Szabolcs Makai
Szabolcs Makai is a bioinformatician and a senior research fellow at the Agricultural Institute of the Centre for Agricultural Research in Martonvásár, where he is member of the Department for the Breeding of Maize Cereals. He deep dives into genomic big data making it transparent to data owners (most often biologists). He has used graphs to visualize the co-occurrence of microbiome, to detect genomic recombinations, to identify genetic regulatory modules and to infer pseudo 3D structures of genome, to name a few applications.
Szabolcs has gained an MSc in Process Engineering and topped it with a PhD in Biotechnology, with a focus on data and bioinformatics. Using graphs to explore hidden patterns in the data, he supports the design of tailor-made AI applications. As an experienced innovator, he develops software applications, sometimes relying on AI-driven solutions. He has a firm background both in the academic and the industrial sectors.
