János Bednárik is a research fellow at the Department of Historical Ethnography,  Institute of Ethnology of the HUN-REN Research Centreer for the Humanities. His research focuses on the diverse relationships between the Catholic Church and rural societies in Hungary, with special attention to the 19th century and the German communities in Hungary, and the theoretical and methodological problems associated with this research. Since 2020, he has been working on the development of the institute’s archive.

As an archivist, he is confronted with various aspects of data management on a daily basis, from collection indexing, digitization and registration to research services. These and other experiences led him to become an ARP Ambassador to deepen his understanding of the repository's potential and to communicate it to his colleagues. During the Ambassador Programme together with a colleague, he is depositing research data from a completed field research project. He will also work with the BTK's datasteward to clarify the links between the different logics of archives and research data repositories and develop practical suggestions for the relevant processes.
