Krisztina Krassován is an engineer of the Aquatic Botany and Microbial Ecology Research Group at the Balaton Limnological Research Institute (BLRI). During her work she performs qualitative and quantitative determination with special analytical methods of different nitrogen and phosphorus forms in several natural water bodies and in mesocosm systems.

In the the ARP Ambassador Programme she plans to archive and publicly share the data attained in two projects of the Institute. One of the projects is the Lake Balaton water chemistry monitoring program, of which the data of 2023 will be archived. The aim of the monitoring is the continuous measurement of the relevant physical and chemical elements and the nutrients of Lake Balaton because these parameters determine the amount of the algae, which is the basis of the food chain of the lake. The other project is on the movement patterns of the great cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo), carried out by the Fish and Conservation Ecology Research Group. The researchers analyze the population trends, habitat use and the migration pattern of great cormorants, with the aim of expanding the scientific knowledge on the species.

Krisztina’s aim in the Ambassador Programme is to learn up-to-date methods of data service handling, management, archiving, and sharing. She also wants to forward this useful knowledge to the researchers working at her institute. Her goal is to help researchers effectively use and smoothly apply these state of the art data management practices during their research work and to ensure that they will be able to expand their scientific knowledge in their field of expertise or other areas. She would like to help the BLRI to meet both domestic and international expectations concerning modern research data management norms and open sciece principles.
