Since 2023, Róbert Szederkényi has been a staff member at the Institute of Archaeology, Research Centre for the Humanities, affiliated with the Department of Archaeological Heritage and Methodology. During his university studies, he specialized in the archaeology of the Roman provinces and of the Early Middle Ages. His thesis focused on analysing a barbarian cemetery from the Imperial Period.

His institutional tasks include archival work, data curation, and research support activities, such as processing of Late Roman cemeteries and archaeological artefact photography. He participated in the ARP Ambassador Programme I–II in collaboration with Friderika Horváth, senior research fellow at the Institute of Archaeology. In 2025, he is continuing his involvement individually.

The Department of Archaeological Heritage and Methodology — which encompasses the Graphic and Conservation Workshops as well as the Archive— plays a central role in supporting archaeological research through the preservation and management of documentation. The Archive collects and organises primary research records, documentation of interdisciplinary projects, and other supporting materials, with the aim of ensuring their long-term preservation, accessibility for future research, and potential for scholarly reuse.

As a result of the ARP Ambassador Programme, a practical data management workflow has been established since 2023, culminating in the uploading of finalized data packages to the ARP repository and their secure archiving on the institute’s server. The 2025 objective is to process the research dataset from the Copper Age cemetery at Balatonszentgyörgy-Faluvégi dűlő, Site No. 2. The dataset includes archaeological data alongside anthropological, archaeozoological, geological, malacological, isotopic geochemical, and radiocarbon dating results.

In the continuation of the 2025 ARP Ambassador Programme, Róbert expects an opportunity  for collaborative reflection and exchange of ideas, which will facilitate the smoother and more efficient management of research programmes in the future, building upon each other’s experiences.
