Róbert Szederkényi - Ambassador Program 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026
Since 2023, Róbert Szederkényi has been a staff member at the Institute of Archaeology, Research Centre for the Humanities, affiliated with the Department of Archaeological Heritage and Methodology. His responsibilities include archival and research data management as well as research support activities, including the study of Late Roman cemeteries and archaeological object photography. He has participated in the ARP Ambassador Programme since 2023.
Since 2023, partly through the ARP Ambassador Programme, a sustainable workflow for managing research datasets produced at the Institute has gradually been developed. This includes the organisation and cleaning of data, metadata creation, the separation of archival and dissemination files, as well as the institutional storage of completed data packages and their deposition in the ARP Data Repository.
The 2026 project focuses on preparing microscopic images of archaeological objects and data from non-destructive archaeometric analyses for repository deposit. The work includes the structured organisation of files, standardised metadata creation, the development of archival formats, and the deposition of the research dataset, validated by the project lead, in the ARP Data Repository. Within the programme, he works in close collaboration with the participating researcher to organise, curate and prepare research datasets associated with the project for repository deposit.
As an individual project, he is also carrying out a pilot for the archival processing and metadata creation of a selected part of archaeologist Zsuzsa Miklós’s aerial photography collection. The aim is to develop a workflow that can later be applied to other photographic collections, supporting the systematic organisation of large numbers of digital images with generic file names and improving their long-term accessibility for research.
