HUN-REN Data Repository Platform

3rd Hungarian Data Steward Meeting

On January 23, 2025, Hungarian data stewards gathered for the third time to share the latest news, developments, and discuss the evolution of their profession. This informal meeting took place at the Human Sciences Research House Budapest, in the gallery of the HUN-REN Centre for Social Sciences.

The event was organized by ELTE Digital Heritage National Laboratory (ELTE DH-LAB), HUN-REN Data Repository Platform (HUN-REN ARP), and Pro-M Zrt, with representatives from these institutions, along with numerous invited guests and interested participants. Several ARP ambassadors and HUN-REN data stewards also attended.

During the event, attendees created an offline network map moderated by Zsuzsa Sidó (ELTE DH-LAB). Enikő Meiszterics (TK KDK) presented an overview of the ongoing work at the Centre for Social Sciences' Research Documentation Centre. Bence Vida (ELTE DH-LAB) shared insights from the final exam of ELTE’s data steward training program, while Henrietta Farkas (HUN-REN Centre) and Tibor Móring (ELTE University Library and Archives) provided engaging summaries of two theses  by data stewards that completed the program successfully.

In the second half of the meeting, András Holl (MTA KIK) led a guided tour of an exhibition at the HTK building, commemorating the 100th anniversary of his father, archaeologist Imre Holl’s birth. Through a series of engaging anecdotes related to the research artifacts on display, attendees gained insight into Imre Holl’s work in medieval studies, from castle excavations to ceramics research, as well as his archaeological methods, excavations, and documentation techniques.
