In July 2026, the fourth wave of the ARP Ambassador Programme began. The aim of the Programme is to promote the state-of-the-art management of research data, to support data management in accordance with the FAIR principles, and to ensure the long-term preservation, accessibility and reusability of research outputs.
Researchers working at the HUN-REN and ELTE (formerly HUN-REN) research centres were eligible to apply for funding to develop proposals or solutions relating to the repositing of research data associated with one or more interdisciplinary research projects, individual, interdisciplinary research, and a plan to master the detailed use of the ARP service package and to present and promote it to their research community.
During the programme, participants will get acquinted with the ARP’s infrastructure and services through professional training and a mentoring programme organised by the Data Repository Platform. The ambassadors will be supported in their work by mentors selected from the staff of RDC CSS, whilst practical activities relating to data repositories will also be supported by developers from SZTAKI DSD.
Following the assessment of the applications received, seven ambassadors have taken up their posts. Four of them – Friderika Horváth and Róbert Szederkényi (ELTE HTK RI), Tamás Scheibner (ELTE HTK TTI) and Kata Dobás (ELTE HTK ITI) – represent the humanities; one ambassador – Gyula Balla (HUN-REN KOKI) – represents the experimental medical sciences; one – Orsolya Karácsony (HUN-REN TTK) comes from the natural sciences, and one – András Vereckei (ELTE KRTK) – is a researcher in the field of economics and regional sciences.
Two members of staff from the Data Archive of the Institute of Archaeology at ELTE’s Faculty of Humanities – who have been submitting successful project proposals since the Ambassador Programme began – recently reported on their activities undertaken as part of this year’s Ambassador Programme on their institution’s website.
