Open Science, Data Repositories, and Data Stewards – Challenges and Opportunities for Collaboration in Research Data Management and Research Support
The HUN-REN Data Repository Platform (HUN-REN ARP) is organizing a conference titled “Open Science, Data Repositories, and Data Stewards” on October 8, 2025, and hereby invites the submission of abstracts.
The aim of the event is to provide a space to present Hungarian and international initiatives, best practices, collaborations, challenges, and technological solutions related to research data management, research support, data repositories, and open science.
We are looking for presentations that, either from a practical or theoretical perspective, explore current trends in research data management and research support in general or within specific scientific disciplines, with particular attention to the development and collaboration opportunities and solutions of the infrastructures and professionals working in these areas.

We especially welcome abstracts on the following topics:
- The role of data repositories in science
- Data repositories in Hungary
- The goals and services of the HUN-REN Data Repository Platform
- Domestic and international practices of open science

- The emergence and development of the data steward profession
- Data steward training in Hungary and internationally
- The role of data stewards in research data management, challenges, and best practices
- Community building and collaboration
- International cooperation for data repositories
- International cooperation for organizing research support
- Sharing and reusing research data
- Applying the FAIR principles in practice
- Interoperability, metadata standards, and research data management plans
- Legal and ethical issues in research data management
- Best practices in research data management

🗓️ Submission deadline: July 15, 2025
We warmly welcome submissions from any researcher, research supporter, educator, research institute, educational institution, or other organization involved in research data, research data management, or research support. The conference will be a full-day event and free of charge, organized by HUN-REN ARP with the intention of establishing a tradition of a yearly conference.
