From December 1–5, 2025, the Research Documentation Centre (Kutatási Dokumentációs Központ, KDK) at the HUN-REN Centre for Social Sciences (Társadalomtudományi Kutatóközpont, TK) will host the annual conference of the Data Documentation Initative (DDI), the European Data Documentation Initiative User Conference (EDDI 2025). First held in 2009, the conference will take place in Hungary for the first time, at the Research Centre for the Humanities in Budapest.
The DDI is an international standard designed to describe data in the social, behavioral, and economic sciences. It offers a comprehensive metadata framework that supports documentation throughout the entire research data lifecycle—from planning, data collection, and processing, to analysis and long-term archiving. The DDI community—comprising researchers, data stewards, and developers—promotes transparency, interoperability, and reusability of research data, all core principles of FAIR data management.
Hosting EDDI is a major milestone for Budapest and HUN-REN CSS, reflecting Hungary’s growing integration into European research infrastructures. The EDDI community includes leading figures from the Open Science movement, research infrastructures, and funding organizations across Europe, the U.S., and beyond.
Submissions are welcome in the form of full sessions, presentations, short talks, posters, tutorials, workshops, or side meetings.
Submission deadline: September 1, 2025
Details and submission guidelines can be found on the EDDI 2025 Call for Proposals page.
We welcome your submissions!
