The closing workshop of the research project Digital Literary Memory in Central Europe was held on 25 September 2026 at the University of Vienna (Institut für Finno-Ugristik der Universität Wien).
The digital humanities project examines the relationships among the literary traditions of Central European countries and explores the region’s cultural self-awareness. Focusing on the Visegrád countries, namely the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia, the project investigates the extent to which literary authors from each country are represented in the digital literary memory of the others. Researchers analyse data on writers, poets, and playwrights available in different language editions of Wikipedia, using Wikidata-based queries, data-cleaning procedures, and network visualisation methods.
At the closing workshop, Kata Dobás (ELTE HTK), ARP Ambassador and one of the project’s professional leads, gave a short presentation on the structure and operation of the ARP Data Repository, as well as on the possibilities for archiving and preserving research data over the long term. The datasets created during the project will be deposited in the ARP following the completion of the research. Repository-based preservation of these data can contribute to the long-term accessibility, transparency, and future reusability of the project’s research outputs.
The digital humanities project is supported by the Austrian-Hungarian Action Foundation (OMAA).
