Heading the IT at the HUN-REN Centre, Noémi Harnos coordinates and supports the infrastructure development and operation of the HUN-REN Cloud and the ARP Data Repository.
After graduating from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Eötvös Loránd University, she started her career at the Institute of Agricultural Research of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, where she investigated the expected impacts of global climate change on cereal crops using simulation methods. In addition to research work, she was responsible for the operation of the IT infrastructure of the institute as well. She defended her PhD thesis at Szent István University in 2003. First as Head of the Department of Phytotron, established in 2012, and later on as Head of the IT group at the Centre for Agricultural Research of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, she played a major role in both the provision of new technologies to the phytotron crop breeding chambers and the development of the central IT infrastructure of the institutes belonging to the research center. In 2017 Noémi joined the Centre for Astronomy and Earth Sciences as IT coordinator. Since 2020 she has been working for the HUN-REN Centre (formerly ELKH Secretariat) supporting the foundation of the redesigned research network and developing its IT infrastructure.
