The Hungarian Young Academy provides guidelines for ethical publishing

The Hungarian Young Academy has produced a series of nine videos on ethical publication practices. The organization aims to support early career researchers and PhD students, but the series is a useful resource for any researcher or interested individual. Speakers include Ákos Lencsés (ELTE Research Centre for Linguistics), a member of the HUN-REN Data Steward Network.

The videos can be viewed on the website of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences or by clicking here.

As the Academy notes, the “Norwegian list” was introduced to identify questionable journals and assist in their detection in response to unethical practices that have emerged in publishing in recent years, and as a result of the work of a committee established to investigate this phenomenon. The video series by the Hungarian Young Academy is the continuation and supplementation of this work, with each episode addressing a specific aspect or segment of appropriate publication practices and ethical issues in scientific research.

Specifically, the videos cover and explore topics such as open access, peer review, the role of academic publishers, ethical publishing, journal selection, future trends, and publication practices in major scientific fields.
