On May 26–27, 2026, members of the HUNOR (Hungarian Open Repositories) community gathered for a miniconference at the University of Debrecen. The event was part of the DEENK25 program series.
The conference focused on current issues in research integrity, science communication, and citizen science, and provided an opportunity for professionals working in the field of research support to exchange experiences and showcase best practices and innovative solutions.
The presentations addressed current issues such as support for the use of researcher identifiers, European trends in research management, data protection challenges in research data management, and the relationship between FAIR principles, metadata quality, and Artificial Intelligence.
The case studies presented highlighted that research data management services, data repositories, and the work of data stewards play an increasingly important role in ensuring the transparency, integrity, and reusability of research projects, thereby supporting the achievement of Open Science objectives.
In the section of the event dedicated to case studies, members of the ARP team Enikő Meiszterics (Centre for Social Sciences) and Gabriella Virág (Centre for Social Sciences), as well as members of the HUN-REN Data Steward Network, Krisztina Krassován (Balaton Limnological Research Institute) and Melinda Nonn (Research Centre for Natural Sciences), also gave presentations. The presentations covered various areas of research data management and research support:
- Krisztina Krassován: The transformation of research management in Europe: lessons from the EARMA 2026 conference
- Enikő Meiszterics: How to strike a balance between data protection, research value, and practical feasibility?
- Melinda Nonn: Supporting researchers with ORCID registration
- Gabriella Virág: Machine-readable ≠ reusable. FAIR evaluation, metadata quality, and Artificial Intelligence
